THE 17 GOALS
SDG's 15 : LIFE ON LAND — Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.
At this point explains that we must preserve life/nature/living things. It is explained that in 2015 "Coverage of Protected Areas of Key Biodiversity Areas, Has Declined" and also says that "100 Million Hectares of Healthy and Productive Land are Degraded Every Year". Nature on earth is always damaged every year, if we want to utilize nature we must know its limits, and know how to develop it again. If nature is damaged, how will human life continue? Human life is very dependent on nature, therefore we must preserve nature.
There are also 23 targets set out in point 15 of the SDG's for 2030. These targets consist of forestry management, conservation and biodiversity, preserving and utilizing biological economic value, environmental law enforcement, animal and plant quarantine, and animal and vegetable biosecurity. The efforts made to achieve these targets are outlined in the policies, programs and activities that will be carried out by the government and non-government.
Forestry development in the 2017–2022 period is directed at achieving the goal, namely sustainable forest management. Based on the analysis of space utilization, the forestry development strategy focuses on forest development based on forest functions, namely ecological functions, economic functions and social functions. Furthermore, the following policy directions can be determined:
(1) Renewing the Forestry Governance System
(2) Maintaining the existence of forest areas
(3) Stabilizing Forest Areas
(4) Comprehensive and sustainable Forestry Planning
(5) Increasing productivity and value increasing forest resources and their functions
(6) Optimizing Forest Resource Management and Utilization
(7) Developing Sustainable Forest Resource Management
(8) Increasing community access to forest management
(9) Strengthening Forestry Institutions and Human Resources
(10) Increasing Community Capacity in Forest Management
(11) Increasing the Contribution of Forestry to the Sustainability of other Economic Sectors
(12) Biodiversity Conservation
(13) Increasing the Benefits of Ecosystem Services
(14) Increasing the Role of Forests in Restoring the Carrying Capacity of River Watersheds (DAS)
(15) Land rehabilitation and prevention of natural disasters
(16) Optimization and Distribution of Forest Area Functions and Allocations.
And also there's a program goal from point of 15 SDG's. Based on policy directions that are in line with achieving Goal 15 of the SDGs, the programs that will be implemented include: (1) Management of vegetation cover and conservation of natural resources, (2) Development of Forestry Nurseries, (3) Planning and Development of Forestry Businesses, ( 4) Production and protected forest management, (5) Conservation Forest Management.
